Clint Hairston Sets NMCA Pro Street National Speed Record 245.72MPH

Commerce, GA (April) – HMR opened their 2012 season campaign participating at the Nitto NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals at the Atlanta Dragway.

The team got off to a slow start in qualifying but got it together with a 6.08 pass on Saturday afternoon securing the #2 spot just behind Chris Rini. The 244.12 MPH speed on Saturday was good for a new record which was later backed up and reset in our semi-final pass against Jimmy Keen at 245.72 MPH.

Unfortunately after running 6.06 in the semi-finals for the win, Clint experienced a chute deployment malfunction leaving him no choice but to visit the “kitty litter” at the end of the track. Clint did a great job of keeping the car straight avoiding what could have been a serious accident. The damage to the car was mostly cosmetic and the team along with help from Bill Lutz’s crew did a great job of getting the car ready for final eliminations against Chris Rini. While towing the car up to the staging lanes, Clint felt a vibration in the steering wheel. After closer inspection, crew chief, Jake Hairston found a bent right front spindle ending our day.

The car will be going to Jerry Bickel Race Cars for repairs and updates and we will be back for the Nitto NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl race at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL July 12-15. Check the videos at www.hairstonmotorsports.com showing our record run at Atlanta Dragway.

Hairston Motorsports & Racing would like to give special thanks to Lucas Oil for being our title sponsor this year and also thank our many other loyal sponsors; Pertronix, Duttweiler Performance, Precision Turbo, XS Power, Powermaster, Racepak, Hoosier Tire, K&N, Crower Clutches, Lenco, Comp Cams, Dart, T&D Machine, Scat crankshafts, Hogan Manifolds, Jesel, Strange, Motive Gear, Inland Empire Driveline, SCE Gaskets, Starside Design, Specialty Fasteners, Russell, Brodix and ARP for their continuing support and our great crew including Doug Stewart, Tom Esbri, Dustin Lee and Bill Hickok.
