Clint “The Milkman” Hairston goes to the Semi-Finals
Commerce, GA (April 2014) – HMR arrived at Atlanta Dragway for the Nitto NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals looking for a quick start to our 2014 season.
We were hoping to debut a new engine at the race but just couldn’t get it done in time so we had to rely on our little “377” to get the job done. After struggling a little in qualifying we were able to go A to B running 6.042 at 245.27 mph for the #4 qualifying spot. This was the top MPH after 3 rounds of qualifying. Not bad for a small block!!
Clint was able to get by Ruben Tetsoshuili in round one with a pedaling 6.158 at 245.27 to Ruben’s 7.792. Round 2 matched us up with Jimmy Keen’s nitrous Corvette. A great race for the fans with Clint taking the win on a hole shot 6.017 at 249.58 to Jimmy’s 5.997. Margin of victory at the stripe was .016 of a second. The celebration didn’t last too long however, when we discovered during in between round maintenance a bad rear main bearing. With only one engine available for this race, we weren’t able to make the semis against the eventual race winner, Bob Rahiam.
